Go to a good alternative hairdresser and ask for an emo cut ... the hairdresser can analyze your hair and give you the best cut. As for 'color' if you want to add some, you can go to any 'beauty supply' store and buy cans of 'spray on' color that will wash right out ... it comes in virtually every color known (including 'acid green' and 'bright magenta') and your mom should be able to 'accept that' far more easily than getting your hair 'dyed' ... besides which, you can get several cans of spray, and can 'change your colors' every day if you want ...
get it cut emo (you probably have already) with a side fringe, find a picture of someone with good emo hair that you like. short at the back and long sidey at the front is typical emo hair (i think)

Dyeing your hair un-natural colors is fun and addicive. My natural hair color is light brown, But I have had more colors then anything. I have had all shades of Blond, Quite a few shades of Blue, Red, Green, and black. Manic Panic is the BEST.

I think it's ridiculous to say that a Black person with colored contacts is ashamed of thier race. Green eyes happen to run on my mothers side of the family, so to me, it's perfectly normal to see Blacks with light eyes and hair. Actually, in many areas it's quite common. I have to add that people who've never seen this must live where there are few Blacks. We truly come in all colors.

I associate bleached Blond haired Black people with being ghetto. With contacts added....that makes it worse. Most Black people who try this look don't pull it off well at all and end up looking stupid.

It looks unnatural to me, I never seen a Black person look right with them.Why can't we just accept our hair, skin, and eyes as they are instead of believing that white traits such as straight hair, blonde hair, blue eyes, and light skin are better than out African features. I think blue eyes look gorgeous on dark skinned people. I don't know about blonde hair. Maybe blonde or light streaks in dark hair would be a better option, to avoid terrible regrowth and hair damage.

At a sales auction, I seen a Mexican guy with natural red hair and tanned skin. I myself, being mixed, have light skin, brown hair and hazel eyes. Its nothing to be ashamed of.
If a black woman wants to put weaves in her hair, relax it, dye it blonde/red/brown, that's her perogative. It doesn't make her want to be "white". Most of them are still proud of their african heritage, even more so. Same thing with many light skinned and caucasian hispanics in general. People need to get over the whole anger towards the "eurocentric" society and hating on people with light skin and features because that's just as racist as if it were to be against someone with darker skin and black hair/eyes.

I think you just need to get rid of the contacts all together and accept your eyes the way they are. Be proud of yourself, don't cover them up. Glorify them.
a black person having blue contacts doesn't necessarily mean that they have self esteem issues. you really have to take it on a person by person basis. personally i think that there are definitely a lot of black people out there who are trying too hard to be something other than what they are. i'm not a fan of black people dying their hair or getting weave so that they can have long blond hair. i think people should be more comfortable with who they are and what they have. making unneccessary changes to yourself whether they're permanent or not doesn't make sense to me. but that doesn't just apply to black people, it applies to all people of all races, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds. i don't think people should continue to allow mainstream society and media portrayals decide how they should feel about themselves. but a lot of people do it subconsciously.
as for the people that have that eye color naturally there's nothing wrong with that. they can't control that so i don't see something like that as them betraying their race.

Yes, I do think they're betraying ethnic heritage. Blue and green eyes that are natural, that is fine. But color contacts or blonde/red hair dye for any ethnic group other than Caucasian is not natural features and it does betray their race. Whether or not they're trying to look Caucasian, they're immulating Caucasian features. But I could care less about race so it doesn't matter to me.
Judging on outer appearance is what causes the discrimination/trouble in the first place. Moral character should be determined by behavior not looks.
As for people wearing contacts, I think it comes down to individuality. A person represents his or herself, rather than an entire race. Everyone has their own idea of what is attractive.

use a temporary dye like natural instincts...go for a copper color because it's already a reddish-orange color and its very very pretty.

B. Your hair was too dark for that dye
C. You hair is really dark and you did not use bleach first.

If it is dyed black GOOD LUCK! If it is naturally black, get a blue powdered bleach and 20 Volume developer. However, I do NOT recommend you try and attempt this. You are treading in dangerous waters.

Why isn't going to a salon an option.. at least for the bleaching part. It is very very tricky to do at home and you will either end up with orange hair (and if you put blue on that it will go a gross muddy shade) or if you do get it light enough you hair will most likely melt off! Some salons offer a charge per foil. Call around and I bet if you just want one chunk in the front you could find a deal for about $5-$15. Don't try this yourself I beg of you!

Here is my dilemma, I wanted to do a change with my hair so I had my hair done on Friday. My natural hair color is Dark Blonde, I have blue eyes and fair skin. She did a dark brown on the bottom which looks really good but when she did the top she mixed the sandy blonde with another color and it came out brassy/ red and does not look good at all. I wanted to be blonde on top with just a little brown lowlights. I am going to go back in on wednesday for her to fix the correction. Can someone please give me some advise on what color blonde to go with on top and if I should just do blonde all over or throw in a few brown lowlights as well. My huband suggested I go with an ash blonde but not sure which one to choose. If someone could help me out that would great.

If it came out brassy/red she didn't lift it light enough. That's usually a problem in the formulation or she didn't leave it on long enough. I suspect though, that you pointed out a color on a color swatch and that's what she mixed and put on your hair. have her do highlights and tone the hair left between the foils with low light. It might not be a bad idea to ask her to have someone else in the salon participate in the consultation. The mistake is pretty basic. Be sure and tell her if you already had color on your hair, especially home color. There are lots of reasons color can come out with less than desirable results but brassy or red is pretty easy to fix.

Goto a Sally's Hair Supply store. Almost all of those stores are staffed by hair experts. And they carry the professional grade products. Just remember to be sure the person you're talking to is a pro. Sometimes you do run into a cashier who is just a cashier. Also look for Manic Panick or Hot Topic (? not sure about that second name). I usually found these in grunge stores. In Atlanta GA the best choice would be Junkman's Daughter in Little Five Points. This is not a chain store so I'm not sure what would be available in your area.
You will need to apply some type of hydrogen peroxide since you have black hair. It maly be possible to find a product that is blue that is a one step process if you go to Sally Beauty Supply. There are also one step hair colors for black women that are in a blue-black shade which are lovely.
It may be that it has to be a two step process for you, which means you need a professional colorist and not just a regular hair stylist.
So i bleached some of my hair so i can dye it blue, but the bleach came out orange, and i kept re applying it but it still keeps coming out orange.

I live in New Zealand, so I can't speak for those in the US, but I suppose it would seem that Americans seem to idolise the peroxide, tanned look - have to say here in New Zealand, I'm ethnically Italian, and have the typical dark brown eyed, dark haired Southern Italian look, and I have to say New Zealand guys really notice me here. I think the statement you made is maybe a bit bold, because I think men and women all have different tastes in hair colour, eye colour, in everything I think! Maybe the blonde look is really 'thrown' at us, and that is why it is perceived to be the most popular look. Anyway, my preference for men would have to be dark brown eyes with long black lashes, olive complexion, and dark hair - the blonde look, or red look doesn't do it for me - and I admire brunette in women also. I asked a question earlier and I think I was unclear. I used Manic Panic in my hair, but it turned alot of my skin blue. (Thats the problem with dying your hair in a dorm). I like it in my hair, but I really would like to get it off my skin. Any suggestions?
It may take a few days to come completely out, but there is something you can do to help the process. Use 1/4 cup of salt and combine it in a bowl with about 1 Tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Use this as a hand scrub. It will help exfoliate the dead skin cells off your hands, and in the process, the hair dye. You may need to do this again later tonight and in the morning, but you should see a real difference.
I wouldn't recommend using bleach or any harsh chemicals, as they may irritate your skin and cause further problems.

Typically it'll come off your skin in a little while after just washing it and stuff. I think it depends on the brand, though, so I'm not exactly sure...

WOW manic panic is gonna be hard to get off lol did u get it from Sally's? they may have something there to remove it try alcohol on a cotton ball i have a hint for you as well next time you dye your hair put shampoo or conditioner even Vaseline around your face and ears you cant put it on your hands but you can easily remove the dye on your skin by just wiping off the shampoo,conditioner, or Vaseline off try to use some shampoo to wash your hands with :) it may work
rub toothpaste on your hands. leave it on for 5 min or until dry. then, get a friend to pour rubbing alchohol or something strong on it. its should melt off.

Did you bleach your hair first? If so take a little of the bleach and put it on your hands for a few minutes. Thats what my colorist would do when she would dye my hair pink.
use an exfoliator like a salt or sugar scrub on your hands to help fade the dye on your hands
wipe with rubbing alcohol
Sally's Beauty Supply has a few products that will take the stain out of your skin. "Dy-Zoff" %26amp; "Andre- No Rub wipes". This should help. Good Luck!

Get Special Effects. It is BY FAR the longest lasting crazy color hair dye out there. They sell it at some~ hot topic stores (though I haven't seen it recently), but you're better off getting it online because it's cheaper and they have a better chance of having the color you want!
The site I posted also has pics of real people who dyed their hair that certain color if you click on it, so it's easier to find the right shade.

In order to get white hair you need to bleach it. The problem with that is that it absolutely KILLS your hair. In order to get it white, you need to use a heavy bleach that can only be done professionally. But even with this, you hair will be as dry as straw and will be pretty much made of split ends. its a problem.
If you want a black hair color just go anywhere to get a true black color. If it is genuinely black and not just dark dark brown, it will appear to have a blue tint. This happens whether you want it or dont. The best thing I can find is Clairol natural blue black hair dye. It will do the trick. Be very careful though, once you dye your hair black it is very hard to remove because you can't dye over it. You just have to wait til it grows out. Make sure to put a lot of thought into what you want. Here's the website.

If you want white, you can't just go out and buy white dye. You have to bleach your hair until it gets light light light blonde.

just put a dark blue on it and the black will pick up a blue hue. It may be subtle, but you'll see it. It will make your black super super super black. As black as it gets. Which I think looks cool. Go for it! :)

In palestine and Lebanon, blue, green eyes are VERY common, even if the people are tanned skinned. They didnt mix with the muslim egyptians so their features stayed dominant

You need to dye it a color that has a blue/violet base to counteract the yellow. I would suggest going back to the salon. It can get a little tricky when you start counteracting colors....Good luck!

DON'T DYE IT!!! if you dye your hair more it might get to the point where it gets so damaged that it breaks off trust me i used to be like you constantly dying it don't.i would wait about 6 months before you dye it again especially because you bleached it not so long ago.if you want to play around with the color i would do colored hair extensions and when your hair recovers from the damage dye it again.you can always ask your hair dresser if you don't know what else to do.hope this helps you.

Check out your local health food store, for hair dyes and rinses. Also you may be able to find some on line. Once you do find what you are looking for it is always better to let a professional do it. You might have a better chance of finding exactly what you are looking for if you speak to your hairdresser 1st.

Hot topic or Sally's has the best colored hair dyes that don't stay in your hair for too long.. but if you bleach your hair and you want to dye it blue or green its gonna stay much longer than 30 days.. mine stayed blue for like 3 months and never faded... and colored hair dye doesn't come off you or your clothes as easy as regular hair dye so be careful if you do it at home.

Simple! Remember in art class. Opposite colors on the color wheel compliment each other. So your eyes are more on the green side. Red is opposite of green. Try going a dark reddish brown color or burgandy (reddish purple). Your eyes will look stunning! My eyes are green and I go with a dark burgandy color and people tell me all the time it looks good! If you still cannot decide have you hairstylist help you out a little.

I agree with the natural color thing. I've had every un-natural semi-permanent hair color ever. its unattractive and way out of style. stay natural but do like deep red and brown highlights. i think that's so pretty.

So my hair is a medium brown color and I want to dye it black so I bought some black hair dye (Palette Schwarzkopf permanent black 1-0). I last dyed my hair dark brown in November but all the dye is pretty much faded out now as my roots don't even grow out in a different colour. If I dye my hair with the black dye, is there any chance of it coming out completely weird looking? My friend told me that you should never dye your hair with black dye because it looks completely different than the box, like more blue-ish. Is this true??? Yes, there is a chance that the black dye MAY come out looking "blueish". My advice is to do a strand test (cut a small piece of hair off) first before dying your whole head and check it every 15 minutes. Just make sure that you don't put your test strand in a metallic bowl. Good luck!

The key is to find one that says "Natural black" or "ebony Black" on the box..

yes it should do. i have dyed my hair black a few times and it always turned out black and i have medium brown hair. if you are not too sure why don't you get a semi-permanent hair dye that won't last as long.
When I want black hair, I always go with a Level 2 or Level 3 brown (a very dark brown. Black is a Level 1 haircolor). Typically, when you go with a Level 2 brown, it darkens your hair almost black and doesn't fade for quite some time. However, I hardly ever mess with black hair color. The results are usually very shocking. I would try a very dark brown and see how you like that before going with the black dye.
I would not advise it. I dyed my hair black once and I looked so pasty and gross. You have to have the right complexion to pull off black hair. Don't do it!!!
If you die your hair a darker colour than your hair colour then it should look fine
I dyed my hair black in October and it's fine. When you wash they dye out it looks purple, but as soon as it dries it's fine.
My twin sister also did the same thing, but did hers in September. we just died underneath. Then we died our hair medium brown, but the bottom stayed black, so my twin died all of her hair black. I love it. So, to answer your question, yes your hair would stay black (until your roots came in)

so yeah... new info's... today i went shopping and bought a dye that washes out after 6 washes... green and pink!
i also bought some bleach powder and this stuff that you use to make bleach...
now since i only want to do a little of my hair in these shades should i just mix a little of the powder with the peroxyde stuff or all of it and then cap it for next use?
also how long do i have to leave the bleach in coz it doesnt say that on the back (i have the 9% thingy thing)

Okay if you only want to tips of your hair done then only bleach the tips mix only a little of the powder with the other stuff you cant re use mixed bleach i don't think it will work next time. but you can save the powder and other stuff. and watch the tips of your hair change color when you see they are blond then wash it out i say leave the bleach in for about 20 mins or less...
to get the very tips of your hair you could like put vaseline your whole hair but the tips but you know that may not work out proerly =D

since you only want to do a little bit, just mix in a little bit of the powder with a little bit of the peroxide. start small, you can always do more later.
i am not sure on how long to bleach your hair for, but my advice would be to use the same amount of time you keep the dye in your other hair before washing it out, which is usually about 15 to 25 minutes.
yes, it is easier to color just the tiips of your hair! if you want the color to be all the same length, and PERFECT, do this:
-part your hair where you want it
-take a comb with teh dye on it and here's the tricky part, rub the comb downwards starting from the highest point that you want the color all the way down the ends.
-do this all the way around your head
-i reccomend having a friend to the back of your hair personally
Oh boy. Your about to make a big mistake. You bought demi-permanent color. And bleach.
First of all, if you bleach your hair first and then put the color in it, that color will NOT come out in 6 washes...especially the green. Green is a stubborn color in hair. When you bleach it beforehand, you're destroying your hair, which makes it easier for the green color to penetrate the cortex, which is not what it is meant to do. And no, you cannot store bleach and use it again some other time. That's dangerous, it can combust in your cabinet or where ever you leave it. After a certain amount of time after being mixed, products do not have any effect any longer.
Second of all, never use dyes you bought from a store. EVER. They are a nightmare for your hair and are impossible to get out. They also cause excessive damage to your hair. When dealing with chemicals, leave it to a professional. Call any salon right now, tell them what you wrote here and they will tell you exactly the same thing. Shelf dyes contain metallic salts too, which makes your hair very unhealthy and causes it to break when you use any other chemicals, such as a perm or relaxer, etc.
Thirdly, no offense, but chances are, you will not get the results you desire, no matter how good you think you might be. I'm not trying to offend you, really, I'm just trying to prevent you from doing something I did so many times before going to cosmetology school. Now, it will probably be years before I have hair that I can even manage again. The hell I go through every day really isn't work having some demi-permanent color in it, trust me.
If you apply this bleach to your head, expect it to look like a rainbow before you even color it. You NEED to apply it midshaft, root, ends....which is almost impossible to tell when you do it yourself. Otherwise your root will become excessively damaged and break off, resulting in ugly colors and extreme hair loss. All that money you spent, if I were you, I'd return it all, and spend that money in a salon.
I hope it works out for you. Sorry again for being so harsh, but I just want you to know what it going to happen before you have to find it out yourself.

im 17, i've been shaving for nearly 2 years. I'm of middle eastern decent, so as expected, i tend to grow hairs a little faster than my age group. If you look at the picture below, you'll see the RED is where i currently shave, as other guys do too. If you look at the BLUE, that is where other hairs have grown, but i've hesitated to shave them because i dont want them growing back there darker and faster.. They're becoming more and more noticable, as i've only 'trimmed' them once, and they'r almost 2 cm now!(estimate).... my parents told me to not do anything to them, and they'll just 'fall out'.. Now, obviously that doesn't happen with hairs, they barely ever just 'fall out' until im 50 or w/e..... so what can i do,, shave them? wax? what are all my options?

If you would want permanent hair removal, there are two options. There is electrolysis. A hot needle is inserted into the root of each hair folical to kill the root. The other is laser hair removal. I've only heard of this being done on women but I'm sure men could have it done also. I am female and have had both done. Just some ideas.

You can wax or shave the unwanted hairs, but they will come back. The source that I looked at explained different reasons why hair might be growing in that area. A good alternative to remove the hair is electrolysis. All you have to do is have a few periodic treatment and then the hair should not come back. My mom had her eyebrows done this way and has not had the unwanted hair come back. Good luck!

I bleached my hair blonde (as i've done before) and I wanted to change the color of my hair...again (i do it every once in a while). Well last time I did it i went blue and kept doing it like that for bout 2 months. When I went blue I used the small squeeze bottles of hair dye they sell at Hot Topic.
Well this time I went pink. Bleached my hair enough so that it's light enough for the color to be bright. Well I used Manic Panic this time because I was told that it lasts longer. I did my hair last friday and it's almost all back to blonde already. I don't know if it's the fact that it's pink instead of blue (cause the blue lasted about 2.5 weeks each time) or that it's the brand.
So my question is...which semi-permanent (wish they made it in permanent but that'll never happen) hair color brand...in funky colors...lasts the longest?
I also went with manic panic because the salon store I go to gives me a discount which is about $6 a bottle. At hot topic their stuff is $15 a botle
I can't remember the name, but its a hair color that comes in a brown (paperbag colored box). Theres an accent color like pink or green depending on your natural shade. I think its by clairol. It works great, smells good, conditions well. I looooove it.
Special effects and Raw, followed by Punky Color are the best in my experience.

I think that dark brown hair complainants your skin tone the best. But brown hair can be boring, so many you should leave your hair the color it is now and try bleaching pieces in your bottom most layer and dying them funky color or leaving them blond. I think that dark brown looks good against your olive skin, but I don't think you want just the typical brown hair. Maybe you should try adding extensions, you could buy them in a variety of colors, and they are easy to glue/pin in. The hair and supplies are all available at your local beauty supply. (such as sallys, or west coast) Good luck!

stay away from the rainbow colors... they were out 10 years ago. Remember just because they are sold doesn't mean they are still in style. Yes the last picture is nice.... and bold I like it and you don't look like a stuffed animal

The way your thinking of coloring it I like. If you bleach out sections, you could even put a temp, funky color over them. Or do more than one color of chunks, one lighter one darker or whatever you like.

Me too.My hair was dirty blonde. And I am into the scene/emo stuff. For my hair at my school you arent allowed too do unatural hair colors, so I did a lighter blonde on top and then dark brown under. It looks funky, but if you ever try to change your mind and dont wanna look punkish, then its great for preppy or whatever also! =)

I just can't help myself even though I'm a guy and I been getting my hair as dark as possible like dark brown (Since I'm kind of pale and black hair wouldn't look right). I naturally have dark blonde hair/light brown hair but girls should I just leave it natural and not be so concerned about my hair? I always got to spend my spare time in the mirror making sure it's looking good. Yes I'm a little bit metro but man I cannot help it. I'm thinking about going back to my natural hair color since the summer isn't to far away and I should just love myself no matter what hair color I have but for some strange reason I feel like way more confident and masculine with my dark hair where my blondish/light brownish hair attracted just as much women. I do have blue eyes and I thought the blonde hair looked good with it but I'm not saying the dark brown didn't look bad either. I can't decide please help. Thank you.
Keep your natural hair color! The more you dye it the more damaged it can get. My friend dyed her hair so much that some of it started to fall out! So, unless you want to be bald keep your natural hair color!
